Admiral Wrex has at least 15% of the new republic military under his direct command. His intentions appear to be to establish a government of his own, separate from emperor or republic interests.
His hatred for the empire is obvious though as the Vex Force has been signed in empire controlled regions attacking the empire and it's operations. Wrex in the last year has also participated in many engagements with imperial forces. He is known for promoting empire defection to the republic. But it appears like he was building his own army all along.
Kahn contacts the Athera and relays this intel. Kahn also explains that due to Wrex's position of respect the New republic cannot outright prove his treason and some NR officers will no doubt follow him. 15% of the NR and 10% of the empire has defected to Wrex's standing forces. Another 10% of the NR may continue to follow Wrex's orders because they do not think he is a traitor.
Mission objectives have changed:
Under Akbars orders the mission is to be changed to the following....
- New republic still wants you to go to the space station to investigate the Vex Force.
The Vex force seems to have special interest in force users trained to use a gun, which is why the NR suspects Rage is being "attacked" and or "arrested". Kel is to prevent Rage from being apprehended by any untrustworthy force.
- Attempt to locate Wrex's main base of operations. Kahn suggests the spaceport as still the best spot to look for such Intel. However you could warp to Wrex's last known ship coordinates
Expected opposition: 15 to 25 percent of the new republic as well as the empire or any other enemy faction.
why this is important: This "3rd faction" poses a threat because it has potential to overtake both empire and republic forces.
You are also ordered to avoid any conflict with the empire as you are the only new republic forces actively combating this "3rd faction". Fighting the empire would be a waste of your help as the rest of the NR has that mostly covered.

Akbar is 80% sure that Wrex is the tratior but a few members of the Senate are actually accusing Kahn. Also some classified data mails have been leaked from information brokers. Project Overrun has been discovered
