My convo with Paul about me Vs Geoff got me thinking. For Rages suvival the following would be his best starting strategy for combat.
Rage vs a lightsaber user, Distance: 25 squares: Rage would use a blaster rifle against the lightsaber user for 1 round and then switch to lightsabers the following round as the distance closes.
Shoot blaster (attack action) put blaster away (move action), end turn.
Jedi would close distance against Rage and use a force power...Rage would rebuke.
2nd round: rage would draw lightsaber, use move object. Or draw lightsaber and close the distance and not attack.
Force user would close distance on Rage use a saber attack (or just do a saber attack).....Rage would block and use Riposte.
If force user used a force power Rage would rebuke.
3rd round: rage would use battlestrike and attack with his saber.
Force user would block and then attack on their round.
4th round: Rage would attack or use force slam.

Rage vs a gun user:
Rage should NEVER use a gun against a gun user
Rage vs Goeff. Rage going gun to gun with Geoff would be Suicide. Here is what rage would do.
1st Round: Rage would have his saber out and ignited close the distance...and use move object to bring his enemy closer.
Goeff would attack: Rage would attempt to block and use redirect shot.
2nd round: rage would close the distance ON GOEFF, use battlestrick and attack. If his attack wasnt good he would roll a D8 to spend a force point
Geoff would attack.
3rd Round: Rage would attack or use force slam.

So whne WOULD Rage want to use a gun?
Almost Never. Except in the following Senarios.
A: Fleeing people who are getting away that he needs to finish off.
B: Jedi at long Range.
IN any other situation since Rage has force powers and redirect shot he should ALWAYS use his saber. It is MUCH more effective.
Paul helped me realize this yesterday...
The only reason I insist that rage continues to Carry a blaster is because its useful at long Range if someone is trying to get away and it gives him an edge against Jedi at long Rage.
And since Rage at level 20 has ALL the lightsaber specilizations and 2 rebukes he still can hold his own at close range as well.

Force user would block and then attack on their round. 4th round: Rage would attack or use force slam. 25 squares is rather annoying to calculate, 24 is better due to movements are in six squares. There are some other problems with your assessment here. @24 squares for easy math: VS A light saber specialist AKA Rory, he would use a full round action to move (12) squares and one surge (18) squares. VS A force wizard (depending on the build) full round move (12) squares move the wizard into force range, however puts himself in range of your strike next round. Also depending on the build, using extend power type techniques the range for almost any power is line of site or 18, in which case the force wizard needs one move (to get to 18 squares) and start using standard actions for attack powers. Rebuke or not you will run out of rebukes before the wizard runs out of powers. You need to fight to your strengths and not others. VS force wizards or saber specialists you need to keep your distance or charge in using your own force powers. You have some good ones, slam, move object, battle strike. You might be going about this all wrong. If you took two weapon fighting you can have the saber and the blaster out at all times. That is huge because not only can you shoot at a distance you can also deflect/redirect. Feats to invest in: Two weapon fighting Force Training for the following powers: - Surge - Close the Gap or Keep the Gap. It gives YOU the choice.
- Levitate - Float away and give Rory the finger again as you stare down at him shooting away.
- Attacks
- Defensive powers - Negate energy and Energy resistance, Force shield; would be the top choices for you against attacks from range attacks.
You could also take advantage of some of the lightsaber form powers. No one in the group has them. You want to have people think you are dangerous from a distance and from close range. Some decent form powers: - Assured Strike - Make a utf check, take a penalty to damage and roll twice on the attack. If your utf check is 30+ then your damage isn't affected.
- Shien Deflection
I'll look for more later.
