Paul,

I went to boardgamer geek today looking for an instruction manual. I don't normally log into the account, but decided to today. My first thought when I saw that I had a message, that it was some kind of terms that I needed to agree to, or a welcome message. Then when I opened my inbox and only skimmed the message, I was guarded, thinking it was some kind of phishing scam as I'm not active on that site really.

Then after really reading the message, I was at first stunned, then a calm happiness came to me.

While I'm not currently looking for a group, I'd be interested in talking as I'm always interested in getting know like minded gamers.

I'm guessing you have my email address from my registration. Send me a google chat request when you get this message.

That and I was rather bored. Once I started reading this I remember where I found you. I used to use a quote by you as my sig here, but then I replaced it with my current also about the same troubled player. That person has become the laughing stock of this group as I am probably the laughing stock of theirs. We can always talk here and if you need to keep it private you can always send a PM. I don't think I've ever used google chat. However my AIM is deepthund.

When I am a guest at a convention I am there to entertain people and add to the fun they have at the event. thus, unless the game session is advertised as one where the objective is to kill the PCs--and I've done a few of those--I try to keep PCs alive. Of course if a player doesn't want to have his character survive, the natural selection process of the game environment will take over.

Because World of Warcraft has been the leading culprit in dumbing down the genre to make it easy enough for the mainstream audience who has never heard of an MMO before to hop in and enjoy. Now, this isn't necessarily bad. But the soaring popularity of World of Warcraft has pigeonholed the entire industry into creating clones in order to be successful.
